Cut & Create: What to Expect at Farmside Gardens’ Cut & Create Workshops

At Farmside Gardens, we are proud to grow many varieties of cut flowers right here on our 170-acre farm. In addition to providing fresh stems for arrangements in our own florist, we sell stems wholesale to other local florists and markets. As lovers of fresh flowers, we encourage home gardeners and flower lovers to consider growing their own cut flower gardens. Not only are cut flower gardens beautiful, but keeping your own garden makes it easy to keep fresh flowers in the home throughout the growing season!

We also encourage our customers to learn some tips to create stunning bouquets at home. This can help save money on fresh flowers and ensure that your homemade arrangements look like they were made by the pros!  Our Cut & Create Workshops, held annually at Farmside, are a perfect way to learn the skills you need to expertly craft floral arrangements at home!

Are you thinking about attending a Cut & Create Workshop? Here are some reasons you should invite a friend and sign up

You’ll Get a Tour of Our Cut Flower Fields

As we mentioned earlier, many of the arrangements that come out of Farmside Florist are created with flowers grown right here on our 170-acre farm in Sussex! One of the best parts of a Cut & Create Workshop is the tour of our cut flower fields, where you’ll see all that happens on our farm and learn about the different varieties we plant here. We’ll teach you about growing and harvesting flowers, and then we’ll give you a chance to wander the fields and hand-select your own stems for your bouquet! Many of our guests also enjoy snapping photos during this time of the evening, as our cut flower fields are very photogenic!

You’ll Learn Floral Arranging Techniques That You Can Use at Home

Once you’ve selected your stems, you’ll gather your freshly picked flowers and collect a few fillers that we’ve helped to pick for you. Then, experts from our garden center and florist will teach you techniques for creating stunning floral bouquets. You’ll learn how to design around a focal point, to use height and space to enhance your arrangement, and to use fillers to round out your design. You’ll get one-on-one help and advice with your bouquet, and you’ll enjoy the collaborative effort of working in a group!

You’ll Enjoy a Beautiful Girl’s Night Out on the Farm

Our Cut & Create Workshops are a favorite girls night out! We encourage guests to bring their favorite cocktail or a bottle of wine. Snacks are encouraged, too! From walking the fields to collaboratively working on floral designs, it’s a great night of socialization and fun!

Want to sign up for a Cut & Create Workshop?

Our next workshop is scheduled for July 26! Space is limited and the class fills up quickly, so be sure to sign up to reserve your spot!
